Great Stuff, August 13, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Coolaroo 12-Feet by 50-Feet Extra Heavy Shade Fabric, Heritage Green (Lawn & Patio) Easy to work with and works great. Used it to make outside blinds for south windows and shade roof for south patio. Can see through it on the windows but pretty much no heat gets in. On the west window by the kitchen sink same thing, now can work at the sink in the evening without being blinded by the sun but still can see out to the garden. Have had a smaller piece from Lowes or somewhere for at least five years so know if your take it down in winter and take care of it it will last a long time. The patio was basically unuseable in the hot sun but not anymore. (just be careful with a fire or grill under it, it will melt pretty fast). Also made a light weight portable shade roof to use at the farmer market, sooo much better than those tent set up things other people are using. Since it is so light weight four 3/4" pvc pipes and a little rope is all you need.

I expected that it would not hang as well as fabric would, but that it would withstand the elements better. The good news is that it drapes better than I expected and was not difficult to sew. I was somewhat disappointed that it feels like plastic rather than fabric and unravel easily so I had to spend extra time double stitching all the salvages. My basic sewing machine had no difficulty sewing this fabric and joining it to the outdoor fabric that I used for a decorative top. The picture of the fabric accurately represents the true color. It is a light gold with a taupe tint. One thing that you can't tell from picture is that the material has a subtle stripe on the right side that adds a bit of interest, but not enough to compete with my other fabrics. The wrong side is a bit shinny. I am pleasantly surprised how well this fabric looks with the outdoor fabric. Only time will tell if it holds up better than outdoor fabric.
